Why donate to Gateway Rescue Mission?

We meet basic human needs. We feed hungry people. We shelter homeless people. We place homeless people into permanent housing when possible. We offer drug and alcohol rehabilitation at no cost.

The Bible teaches us that God has a compassion for the "throw away" people of society. But most churches aren´t in a position to house and feed the homeless. That´s where Gateway steps in, as a para-church organization that provides a vital and much-needed Christian function.
Gateway Rescue Mission receives no government or United Way funding. All our funding comes from private sources, individuals, churches, foundations, organizations and our thrift stores (link back over to stores).

Our passion is changing lives. We´re not here just to provide food for a hungry man who´s going to be hungry again tomorrow. Your dollars go toward permanent life change.

We are also looking for volunteers {link to volunteers page}. All it takes it just a little of your time, and the rewards are plentiful. (many volunteers show up at Gateway to help, and end up greatly blessed by the experience.)

Rushed for time? Take a few minutes out of your day, right now, to pray for us and for the lives we are trying to restore hope and spread God´s word too. Prayer doesn´t cost a dime, and it´s the most powerful thing you can do for us.

Have some clothing or objects you´d like to donate? Send them over to our thrift stores.

WE ALSO NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

• Hygiene supplies (soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving cream and razors, facial hair clippers, new socks and underwear for both men and women, feminine hygiene products) NOTE: Do not donate mouthwash that contains alcohol.
• Towels, blankets, sheets, pillows. We go through lots of these items in our shelters.
• FOOD: Industrial size cans, non-perishable food items, some frozen foods such as turkeys and hams.
• Christian Reading Material: Lots of our clients request commentaries, study Bibles, etc. Some need large print Bibles because of poor eyesight (some need reading glasses too)
